Turkish vs Arabic Shawarma

In Budapest I learned why I haven’t loved European Shawarma and where the turnips have gone. An Arabic worker at a Turkish Doner spot asked me how my shawarma was and said be honest. I told him it was good but I like pickles I like sauce I like turnips, I like spice. It’s good for what it was but to me it wasn’t shawarma. He told me that he prefers it Arabic as well like back home for him in Iraq. He explained that Turkish Shawarma runs show through most of Europe and they focus on meat, bread, low sauce, and cabbage. Pickled and Turnips are staples of Arabic Shawarma and was impressed with my Shawarma knowledge. He was surprised Canada had much Shawarma in the first place. Little does he know about our Shawarma scene. While I have left many great reviews in Europe, I have skewed the reviews to reflect meal costs in each country. Mostly because if I compared to Toronto pricing everything would be a 15 and below value wise.
